1- COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH POLYTECHNIC (CDTP) SCHEME: 1- SPONSORED BY MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA FORMERLY MHRD PROVIDES VARIOUS SHORT TERM TRAINING TO UNEMPLOYED YOUTH OF DURATION ONE TO THREE MONTHS, AS PER THEIR REQUIREMENT IN THE MAIN CENTRE (UGIE, ROURKELA)AND VARIOUS EXTENSION CENTRES.

2- MODULAR EMPLOYABILITY SKILL (MES) PROGRAMME: In pursuance of Hon’ble Union Finance Minister’s announcement in 2005-06 Budget Speech, Ministry of Labour and Employment undertook development of a new strategic framework for skill development for the school drop-outs and existing workers especially in the informal sector in close consultation with industry, micro enterprises in the informal sector, State Governments, experts and academia. This was essential considering their educational, social and economic background.

M.E.S is an Institutional Training through the registered Vocational Training Providers (V.T.Ps) provides “minimum skill set” which is sufficient to get an employment in the world of work. Educational qualification of trainees varies from Class 5 pass to Class 12 pass depending upon the M.E.S. Courses. Duration of Training varies from 50 hours to 600 hours. The skill is to be assessed by the Assessing Body mainly from the Industry Organization. Certification is done jointly by the National Council for Vocational Training and Industry (Assessing Body).
